Astana Medical University Enters the QS Sustainability 2026 Global Ranking for the first time

Astana Medical University has been included for the first time in the international QS Sustainability 2026 ranking - a highly respected study that evaluates universities’ contributions to sustainable development and their readiness to address modern global challenges. The ranking features 1,994 universities from 108 countries, with Kazakhstan represented by 23 institutions, seven of which made their debut this year, including our university. AMU entered the 1501+ category, marking a significant milestone in strengthening its international standing.

The assessment was conducted across three key areas.
In the environmental dimension, the university demonstrated positive results in Environmental Sustainability (35.5), Environmental Education (30.4), and Environmental Research (17.9). These indicators highlight the consistent development of “green” initiatives, environmental research, and the promotion of ecological awareness among students.

The social impact dimension also showed strong performance: Equality - 47.3, Knowledge Exchange - 32.1, Educational Impact - 16.8, Employment and Opportunities - 23.6, Health and Wellbeing - 36.7. These results reflect the university’s efforts to expand academic and career opportunities, strengthen partnerships, foster an inclusive environment, and enhance the overall student experience.

One of the most notable achievements was the score in Governance - 74.8%.
This high result confirms the effectiveness of the university’s management practices, transparency of processes, and the resilience of its internal systems.

“Across all key dimensions of the ranking, Astana Medical University demonstrated stable and competitive results, confirming the institution’s systematic efforts to implement the principles of sustainable development.
The debut in QS Sustainability 2026 is an important milestone for both the university and Kazakhstan’s medical sector. This recognition reflects the dedicated work of our team and validates our strategic commitment to building a modern, open, and sustainable international-level university,”
— emphasized Ruslan Urimov, Head of the Strategic Development Department.
