From November 12 to 15, 2025, the international APHRS/JHRS 2025 Congress — one of Asia’s key scientific events in arrhythmology and cardiac electrophysiology — was held in Yokohama, Japan. At this prestigious forum, Yeldana Absamatova, a second-year PhD student of Astana Medical University and an assistant at the Heart Rhythm Research Institute, presented her research work.

APHRS/JHRS is a joint initiative of the Asia-Pacific Heart Rhythm Society and the Japanese Heart Rhythm Society. This annual conference has become an important scientific platform bringing together leading scientists, clinicians, and research centers from across Asia and the world. It serves as a venue for discussing advanced technologies, innovative approaches, and scientific ideas that shape the future of diagnosis and treatment of cardiac rhythm disorders.

Among this year’s speakers was Yeldana Absamatova, who delivered an oral presentation based on a study conducted under the supervision of Professor Ayan Suleimenovich Abdrakhmanov, Director of the Heart Rhythm Research Institute. The research focuses on evaluating the long-term consequences of prior COVID-19 infection in patients with chronic heart failure — specifically, the risks of thromboembolic complications, arrhythmias, and progression of systolic dysfunction.

The high scientific value of the study was recognized by international experts: the abstract was accepted for publication in the Journal of Arrhythmia (Q2), highlighting the global relevance of the topic. In addition, based on the competitive selection, the APHRS/JHRS Organizing Committee awarded Yeldana Absamatova a Young Investigator Travel Grant. Her project was recognized as one of the best studies of the congress — an important achievement both for the author and for the Kazakhstani scientific community.

Astana Medical University congratulates doctoral student Yeldana Absamatova on her successful presentation and significant international accomplishment. The university expresses sincere gratitude to her scientific supervisor, Professor Ayan Abdrakhmanov, for building a strong research school and for his constant support of young scientists.

The study’s results and recognition at the APHRS/JHRS level reaffirm the strong potential of Kazakhstan’s scientific community and strengthen the country’s position on the international stage in cardiology and arrhythmology.
