Astana Medical University invites faculty members, master’s students, and doctoral students to participate in a five-day intensive workshop conducted under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Amin Tamadon, Full Professor of Biological Sciences.

The workshop is aimed at in-depth development of participants’ completed scientific manuscripts. Professor Tamadon will provide support in improving manuscript structure, methodology, statistical analysis, and preparing articles for submission to international high-ranking journals.

Five-Day Workshop Program

Day 1 — Fundamentals of Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis

1.     Narrative vs. systematic review vs. meta-analysis vs. umbrella review

2.     Formulating a research question (PICO)

3.     Protocol development and registration (PROSPERO, OSF)

4.     Search strategies (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science)

5.     Screening and data extraction

6.     Practice: developing a search strategy, PubMed demonstration

Day 2 — Conducting a Meta-Analysis

1.     Effect sizes (MD, SMD, RR, OR)

2.     Fixed vs. random effects models

3.     Funnel plot, Egger’s test

4.     Demonstration of the complete meta-analysis process

5.     PRISMA 2020 guidelines

6.     Practical work with datasets

Day 3 — Umbrella Reviews and Evidence Synthesis

1.     When an umbrella review is needed

2.     AMSTAR 2, GRADE / credibility of evidence

3.     Comparing meta-analyses and managing conflicting results

4.     Practice: narrative summaries and evidence tables

Day 4 — Advanced Methods and Modern Tools

1.     Meta-regression, prediction intervals, trim-and-fill

2.     AI tools for review automation

3.     Risk of Bias assessment (ROB2, ROBINS-I, SYRCLE)

4.     Practicum: mock meta-analysis or umbrella review structure

Day 5 — Manuscript Preparation and Final Project

1.     Principles of scientific writing

2.     Journal selection (Scopus quartiles), submission process, and responding to reviewers

3.     ICMJE authorship, transparency, and ethics

4.     Final project (protocol / meta-analysis outline / umbrella review outline).
