Astana Medical University is taking a confident step toward expanding the global academic space. The university hosted its first meeting with representatives of one of Europe’s leading medical universities - Semmelweis University (Hungary), as well as the Hungarian universities’ alumni organization, Alumni HU.
This event marked an important milestone in the development of international partnership and reaffirmed the university’s strategic commitment to integration into the global educational and scientific community.
The Hungarian delegation included Chairperson Danara Smail and Deputy Director of the Directorate of International Relations Levente Béla Vágó. Astana Medical University was represented by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Assem Dossanova, Acting Head of the International Cooperation Department Merey Sataeva, and Leading Specialist Alisher Baltabay.
During the meeting, the parties discussed concrete mechanisms for interaction aimed at building long-term and sustainable cooperation. The focus was placed on the development of academic mobility for students and faculty, the creation of joint educational programs and double degree programs, participation in international Erasmus+ projects, engagement of visiting professors, as well as the involvement of international supervisors in the training of master’s and doctoral students.
Particular attention was given to the prospect of opening a branch campus of Semmelweis University at Astana Medical University — an initiative that could mark a new stage in the development of international medical education in the region.
A tour of the university’s modern simulation center demonstrated the high level of its material and technical infrastructure, as well as its practice-oriented approach to training future medical professionals.
This meeting is not merely a diplomatic dialogue, but a strategic partnership shaping new educational standards and strengthening the university’s international standing. Astana Medical University continues to confidently expand its global connections, creating conditions for training world-class specialists and implementing joint scientific initiatives.
