From March 11 to 20, 2026, the External Expert Commission of the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) visited the JSC “Astana Medical University” as part of the international specialized accreditation of educational programs.
The work of the external experts was carried out in three stages: March 11–13, March 16–18, and March 19–20, 2026.
Within the framework of the accreditation procedure, 47 educational programs underwent external evaluation and were grouped into clusters according to training directions:
Stage I — 14 educational programs,
Stage II — 19 educational programs,
Stage III — 14 educational programs, including programs submitted for initial specialized accreditation.
The External Expert Commission included representatives from leading medical universities and scientific organizations of Kazakhstan and abroad, as well as representatives of employers and students. At different stages, the chairpersons of the commission were representatives of medical universities of Kazakhstan.
During the visit, the experts familiarized themselves with the quality assurance system of the educational programs, the organization of the educational process, as well as the scientific and clinical activities of the University. The members of the commission held meetings with the University’s leadership, faculty, students, alumni, and employers, and also visited the relevant departments, the simulation center, and the University’s clinical bases.
The evaluation of the educational programs was conducted in accordance with international standards for quality assurance in medical education: WFME, AMSE, and ESG, which are aimed at improving the quality of medical training and developing internal quality assurance systems within educational institutions.
The international accreditation procedure contributes to increasing the competitiveness of the University’s educational programs and strengthening its position in the international educational space.
