The future of medical education in the digital age was discussed in Shymkent

On April 17-18, 2026, the International Scientific and Methodological Conference «Transformation of medical education: global trends and training future specialists» was held in Shymkent. For the second year in a row, the event was organized by the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy and the Educational and Methodological Association of the Republican Educational and Methodological Council in the direction of training - Healthcare.

The event was held in a hybrid format: offline and online. The conference program included the following breakout sessions: «Transformation of pharmaceutical practice under the influence of AI», «Transformation of pharmaceutical practice under the influence of AI», «Simulation and clinical training: from virtual clinic to real practice», «Digital transformation and AI in medical education», «Integration of science and education: project-oriented training», «Formation of interdisciplinary skills in basic disciplines for clinical practice», «Active and integrated learning: methodologies for developing clinical thinking».

Opening the conference, the Deputy Chairman of the Educational and methodological association in the direction of training Healthcare of the Republican educational and methodological council Imasheva Bagdat Sakenovna noted: «The modernization of medical education by strengthening the training of health professionals in digitalization, including telemedicine, remote service delivery, the use of artificial intelligence and big data analysis, especially in rural areas, will support the transformation of the staffing system and the development of science as the basis for sustainable and effective health care».

The opening of the conference was attended by Doctor of Neuropsychological Sciences, Professor Director of the Eurasian Research Center for Health and Social Sciences of the University of Medical Sciences of Turkey Ainur Feyzioglu, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vice-Rector for Medical Work of Tashkent State Medical University Karimov Marif Shakirovich.

Experts from India, Russia and Uzbekistan took part in the conference together with scientists and teachers of medical universities in Kazakhstan.

Participants and guests noted the high level of organization and the rich program of the conference.

The event showed that an active discussion of the challenges and prospects for the transformation of medical education in the era of digitalization is necessary and gives the professional community the opportunity to find solutions facing modern medical and pharmaceutical education.
