International Experience and Modern Rehabilitation Technologies: Astana Medical University Hosted a Delegation of Specialists from South Korea

Astana Medical University continues to strengthen international cooperation in the field of medical education and science. One of the significant events was a meeting between the university leadership and a delegation of leading specialists from South Korea in physical therapy, kinesitherapy, ergotherapy, and medical rehabilitation. The visit of the foreign colleagues became a platform for professional dialogue, exchange of experience, and discussion of new opportunities for academic collaboration.

The delegation included professors of the Department of Physical Therapy at Daegu Health College: Gyeongdon Kim, Jinhwan Lee, and Jeonhyeong Lee; Professor of the Department of Ergotherapy at Daegu Health College Sujong Park; Professor of the Department of Physical Therapy at Gwangju Health University DaeIn Jung; and Professor of the Department of Physical Therapy at Daejeon Health University Yangjin Lee — all recognized experts in the field of modern rehabilitation medicine.

Representing the university at the meeting were Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and International Cooperation Ayan Myssayev, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Asem Dosanova, Head of the International Cooperation Department Saltanat Kassenova, Head of the Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Natalia Slivkina, Dean of the School of Nursing Zhuldyz Zhetmekova, as well as representatives of the Federation of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed prospects for developing international cooperation in training specialists in “Kinesitherapy” and “Ergotherapy.” Special attention was paid to the development of joint educational programs, academic mobility for students and faculty members, inviting foreign experts within the visiting professor program, and implementing joint scientific and research projects.

As a practical continuation of the international visit, a series of master classes entitled “Kinesitherapy and Ergotherapy in the Rehabilitation of Patients with Static-Dynamic and Cognitive Disorders” was organized at the Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. The 40-hour educational program brought together faculty members, practicing specialists, and university students.

During the master classes, South Korean professors presented modern approaches to the rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord injuries, swallowing disorders, musculoskeletal diseases, and respiratory disorders. Special attention was also paid to gait analysis, ground reaction force, and innovative methods of physical therapy.

Participants not only became familiar with international experience and advanced rehabilitation technologies used in leading clinics of South Korea, but also acquired practical skills in developing individualized rehabilitation programs. An important part of the program was the professional exchange of experience between foreign and Kazakhstani specialists.

According to the participants, such international initiatives open new opportunities for improving the educational process, developing scientific cooperation, and implementing effective rehabilitation methods into the healthcare system of Kazakhstan.

The meeting and educational events were held in an atmosphere of open professional dialogue and confirmed the commitment of the parties to developing long-term international partnership, academic cooperation, and innovative approaches in rehabilitation medicine.
