On August 24, Astana Medical University welcomed a delegation from Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital (SRRSH), an affiliated hospital of the School of Medicine of Zhejiang University, as well as representatives of Mindray, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of medical equipment.

The visit provided an important platform for discussing new opportunities for international cooperation and bringing together the expertise of Kazakhstan and China in the fields of medical education, research, and clinical practice.

During the meeting, the parties discussed promising areas of cooperation, including medical education, scientific research and innovation, academic mobility, clinical training, and the exchange of advanced professional expertise. Particular attention was given to opportunities for cooperation in the field of surgery, as well as to the integration of modern medical technologies into educational and clinical processes.

The visiting delegation showed particular interest in the Simulation Center of Astana Medical University. The guests were introduced to the Center’s infrastructure, technical capabilities, and modern approaches to practice-oriented medical training. The parties discussed the potential use of simulation technologies to enhance the quality of education and develop the clinical competencies of future healthcare professionals.

As a result of the visit, Astana Medical University and Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The Memorandum lays the foundation for establishing a long-term partnership and implementing joint educational, research, and clinical initiatives. Key areas of potential cooperation include the exchange of specialists and professional expertise, the development of academic mobility, joint activities in medical research and clinical training, as well as the exchange of modern medical technologies and practices.

Cooperation with Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, which is part of the ecosystem of one of China’s leading universities, opens up new opportunities for Astana Medical University to expand its international partnerships and integrate advanced international expertise into its educational and clinical activities.
