Aliya Alimkhanova, a fifth-year student at the School of Medicine of Astana Medical University, completed placements consecutively in two European countries - Romania and Slovakia, as part of an academic mobility program.

The first stage of her academic mobility was a clinical placement in the Internal Medicine – General department at County Emergency Clinical Hospital Cluj-Napoca in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

During her placement in Romania, Aliya became familiar with clinical workflows in internal medicine, observed patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment processes, and further developed her practical experience in analyzing clinical cases and exploring approaches to patient care.

During the next stage of the program, Aliya continued her placement at the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin, Comenius University in Martin, Slovakia. There, she completed an academic placement in the Department of Pathophysiology, deepening her knowledge in one of the fundamental fields of medicine.

During her experience in Slovakia, Aliya studied pathophysiological processes and the mechanisms underlying disease development, strengthening her theoretical knowledge in an international academic environment.

Thus, completing consecutive placements in two European countries within a single academic mobility period allowed Aliya to combine clinical and academic experience, broaden her professional perspective, and gain knowledge in different areas of medicine.
