The list of priority specialties under the Bolashak program for 2021 provides 80 specialties for academic training and 137 specialties for internships.
This year, priority specialties are distributed in such areas as “Innovation and New Technologies”, “Industrial Engineering”, “Natural Sciences”, “Social Sciences”, “Education”, “Medicine” and “Creative Industry”.
This list was developed on the basis of applications from government agencies and various organizations, as well as taking into account the mid-term forecast of the country’s labor market needs. For the sake of transparency, the list was reviewed and approved by a special commission.
In 2021, 1,055 scholarships were allocated for training under the Bolashak program. Of these, 555 scholarships are distributed for master’s, residency and doctoral programs. 500 scholarships are being awarded under the new Scholarship category. Recall that this category was created in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev with the aim of providing annual internships in the leading scientific centers of the world for 500 scientists.
In 2021, the list of foreign universities recommended for training under the Bolashak program was supplemented:
Amendments are being made to the list of foreign higher educational institutions and foreign organizations recommended for training under the Bolashak program. This year the list has been expanded to 207 universities. In 2020, there were 138 such universities.
The list includes 207 foreign universities from 27 countries included in three international academic rankings and in the first 250 positions in two or more international academic rankings (QS, Times Higher Education (THE), Academic Rankings of World Universities (ARWU).
Acceptance of documents under the Bolashak program will begin on May 4.
Acceptance of documents for participation in the competition for the award of the international scholarship “Bolashak” will begin on May 4 and last until October 28. The scholarships will be awarded in three stages – June, August and November.
For the first time, the processes of admission of documents and competitive selection for the award of the international scholarship “Bolashak” are fully automated. The entire path of the applicant in the competitive selection is digitized.
An applicant is assigned a unique code in his/her personal account, which accompanies him/her during the entire competitive selection. The applicant’s personal data is also encoded using a unique identification system. The number of competitive rounds has been reduced from six to three. Selection rounds include a comprehensive test, a personal interview with members of the Independent Expert Commission and consideration of documents at a meeting of the Republican Commission for Training Abroad.
