PWe would like to inform that Astana Medical University staff is actively working on the implementation of a five-month project focused on “To support the work of the Health Ethics & Governance Unit and PHEPREN (the Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Ethics Network which the unit initiated) on Ethics & COVID-19 but also public health emergencies more generally”, which is coordinated by Bakhyt Sarymsakova, MD.
This WHO project forms a coalition of regional and international experts in ethics and public health to 1) Identify the ethical issues during PHEs in order to contribute to public health policy within the EE/CA countries; and 2) Establish Recommendations for Ethics Committees (RECs/IRBs) for Public Health Emergencies (PHEs) in the following eleven EE/CA countries: the Republic of Armenia, Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Belarus, Georgia, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Republic of Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Republic of Uzbekistan. The coalition is supported by an Advisory Team of international experts from neighboring countries as well as from other regions in the world.
