On November 26, 2021, Astana Medical University celebrated International Students’ Day, which is considered a holiday of youth and fun despite its tragic history during World War II. Student’s Day remains one of the most favourite and memorable holidays for those who once crossed the threshold of higher education. This is a holiday of youth, people who have preserved the fire of creativity and a thirst for discovery in their souls. It was awaited by students impatiently from the beginning of the transition to the traditional format of education.
The event, timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan, was held on the initiative and organization of students, which was held in a solemn atmosphere with the participation of representatives of the youth wing “Jas Otan”, the Office for Youth Policy of Nur-Sultan and the Republican student movement “Alliance of Students Kazakhstan”.
The Rector of the University Kamalzhan Nadyrov opened the evening with welcoming words, who congratulated the students on the holiday, noting the importance of the tasks facing the students – future doctors:
“In order to achieve the set tasks, and for the joint solution of the strategic directions of the development of our university, as well as the implementation of all student initiatives and creative impulses, we plan to make a number of changes”.
According to the rector, important planned changes include the construction of a university hospital at the Astana Medical University with 800 beds, including a day hospital, a consultative and diagnostic complex, research and clinical laboratories, classrooms, as well as the modernization of a simulation center. The University will strive to become a leader in the application of simulation technologies that will help our students have unlimited opportunities to hone their practical skills and be a first-class specialist in their chosen medical specialty. In addition, it is planned to adopt a new policy for the training of foreign students, aimed at integrating students into advanced technologies in the field of education, science and clinics.
The management does not forget the social aspects as well. Thus, it is planned to build a dormitory for 1,500 people through the mechanism of public-private partnership. At this time, work is underway to formalize the land plot in the area of the university clinic under construction. Changes are also planned in student government, which will be a link between students and management, acting in the interests, first of all, of students and the development of the university as a whole.
A concert program was organized for the guests of the event, and the results of the photo competition “The best photo with a teacher” and the video competition “One day in the life of a medical student” were announced. The prize-winners were presented with memorable gifts prepared by the sponsors of the event – the “Dauletten” Charitable Foundation, the “Basman” men’s clothing store, the “Aiat Stom” dental clinic, and the media studio of Kalzhan Tursynbaev.
It should be noted that the victories and peaks conquered by the students once again prove the strength and energy of youth, their potential and prospects. We are infinitely glad that we can bring up a talented young generation.
