On December 10, 2021, the Chairman of the Board - Rector Kamalzhan Nadyrov made a report to the university staff on "Vision of the development strategy of the NAO "Astana Medical University". The meeting was also attended by Daulet Aldyngurov, Director of the Department of Science and Development of Human Resources.
The Rector of the University proposed the following strategic goals for the development of NAO "MUA":
Goal 1 "Training of competitive and professionally competent healthcare professionals in demanded specialties and specializations", aimed at improving the quality of training specialists for the healthcare system, expanding the internationalization of educational programs, launching two-degree programs with leading foreign universities, expanding training areas, including training programs for secondary medical workers, etc. All this will ensure an increase in the share of foreign students, students studying within the framework of academic mobility and at the expense of local executive bodies, employers, improving the employment rates of university graduates.
Goal 2 "Transformation into a research university and its development as a leading center for the translation of new knowledge and innovations into healthcare practice and policy", aimed at creating conditions for the motivation of teaching staff and students to scientific activity, the introduction of positions of researchers in the structure of departments, support for scientific schools, increasing the amount of attracted funding for research, including from the university, the creation of a laboratory for collective use, a vivarium, the opening of a commercialization office and a business incubator, the development of MUA scientific journals, etc. All this will ensure an increase in the share of income from scientific activities, the growth of publications, the level of citation of articles, the number of international and national patents, the volume of commercialization of research, improve positions in national and global science rankings.
Goal 3 "Development of the University as an integrated academic medical center functioning on the basis of the trinity of education, science and practice", aimed at strengthening the university's interaction with scientific organizations and city polyclinics and hospitals, launching and developing a university hospital based on partnership with one of the TOP foreign clinics, obtaining international JCI accreditation and GCP certification, internships of university hospital teaching doctors in leading world centers, implementing an effective marketing strategy in the field of external and internal medical tourism, etc. All this will ensure an increase in employers' satisfaction with the quality of clinical training of doctors and nurses, a decrease in the proportion of substantiated complaints in clinics where university departments are based, an increase in the involvement of teaching staff in clinical practice, an increase in the volume of medical services provided to foreign citizens as part of medical tourism, as well as an increase in the volume of clinical research.
Goal 4 "Development of human resources and improvement of the management and financing system of the University", aimed at implementing an effective strategy for attracting high-quality teaching staff with an emphasis on effective motivation through a differentiated remuneration system, creating a system for training scientific and pedagogical personnel and AUP for the university, increasing the role and status of university teaching staff in the eyes of students and the public, reengineering, optimization and digitalization of all business processes at the university, expanding the amount of income from educational activities and additional sources of income due to clinical, scientific and innovative activities, etc. All this will ensure an increase in the potential of teaching staff, an increase in internal and external academic mobility of teaching staff, the share of foreign teachers and visiting professors, an increase in the salary level of university staff, an increase in the satisfaction of students, employees, customers of the University with the quality of services provided, an increase in the net income of the university for all sources of funding.
Goal 5 "Development of infrastructure and material and technical base of the University", aimed at building a new university with a modern base for educational, scientific and clinical activities, social infrastructure.
All this will allow the University to become a research university with a modern new building and clinics, highly qualified staff, scientific infrastructure, providing:
- training of competitive specialists capable of responding to existing and new challenges to the healthcare system and public health;
- provision of high-tech medical services for the population of the city of Nursultan, the country and foreign citizens;
- the influx of effective technologies into the healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan due to its own developments and the transfer of the best international practices.
At the end of the report, Professor Yerbolat Daulenov spoke on behalf of the teaching staff, who noted the importance of unity and mutual support between structural units to achieve the tasks set. Other professors also spoke with questions and suggestions for improving the educational activities of the university. The rector and the invited guest of the meeting, D. Aldyngurov, answered the questions asked and supported the ideas voiced by the staff.
