A national multidisciplinary expert commission on progressive fibrotic ILD has been established to oversee the prescription and monitoring of antifibrotic therapy. The Commission holds monthly meetings, having reviewed over 100 ILD cases. Doctoral student Yesengeldinova M.A. serves as the commission’s secretary. A national ILD registry has been developed and implemented in Kazakhstan, with regional coordinators actively maintaining it.
· Respiratory Failure, Respiratory Support, and Sleep-Disordered Breathing. Head of the department – Candidate of Medical Sciences (Ph.D.) Pak A.M. A pilot project has been launched in Astana to create an outpatient respiratory support service for patients with chronic respiratory failure. Physicians and nursing staff from city polyclinics have received training in respiratory support techniques. A reference center for respiratory support has been established at the National Scientific Medical Center (NSMC). This field is also the subject of ongoing master's and doctoral research.
· Chronic Non-Communicable Obstructive Airway Diseases (CNOAD). Various aspects of COPD and bronchial asthma are a major focus of research at the Institute. Garkalov K.A. and Trofimova S.V. study management approaches, including remote monitoring of CNOAD. Professor Aynabekova B.A. leads research on the correlation between CNOAD and cardiovascular diseases. Jumagalieva A.N. has investigated the role of alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency in small airway disease and COPD pathogenesis. Latypova N.A., in collaboration with allergy centers, is involved in the development of diagnostics and treatment strategies for severe asthma, including biologic therapy.
