History of creation
The training of doctors in the specialty "Pediatrics" at the Tselinograd State Medical Institute began in 1979 at the Chair of Childhood Diseases of the Faculty of Medicine. The first head of the Chair of Childhood Diseases was Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Chuchupalov D.P. With the opening of the Pediatric Faculty, in 1979 the Chair of Childhood Diseases of the Pediatric Faculty was organized. The head of the Chair was Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Rudenko N.A., then Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Korshunov S.F.
In the period from 1987 to 1999, the Chair of Childhood Diseases was headed by candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Skuchalina Lyubov Nikolayevna, at the same time being the dean of the pediatric faculty. Over the years of the existence of the department, a great contribution to the development of the pediatric service in the region, the training of qualified pediatricians to provide pediatric care to the children's population was made by: Professor Skuchalina L.N., associate professors - Khairullin B.E., Skudarnov E.V., Musina B.K. ., Satybaeva R.T., Urazova S.N., Morenko M.A., Galimgozhina N.I., Chekhovich G.I., assistants - Basurmanova T.V., Vagner V.R., Zheleznyak L.I. ., Aksenova R.I., Torchikova G.S., Bykova N.D., Ivanova N.D., Mitina M.S.
The Chair of Childhood Diseases No. 1 with a course of propaedeutics was organized as a result of the separation of the Chair of Childhood Diseasesof the Pediatric Faculty in January 2000. The first head of the Chair of Childhood Diseases No. 1 was Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Rozenson Rafail Iosifovich, who was later appointed Dean of the Faculty of Pediatrics and later Vice-Rector for Science.
Since 2005, the Chairhas been headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of NJSC "Astana Medical University" Morenko Marina Alekseyevna.
Activities
The main research areas of the department are optimization of the effectiveness of diagnostics and treatment of various pathologies in children. The most studied are allergopathology and immune-dependent diseases. Over the period of the department's existence, more than 600 scientific articles have been published, including 3 monographs, 8 methodological manuals, 2 author's certificates, 2 pre-patents, and 4 patents for inventions. The results of scientific research are implemented in the work of allergists of the outpatient network and hospitals: the National Research Center for Motherhood and Childhood, the multidisciplinary city Children's Hospital No. 1 and the Umit health and wellness center.
The teaching staff of the department has a high professional level of training. All teachers of the department have qualified medical categories and certificates of specialists. Currently, students of 3-4-5-6-7 courses are studying in the specialty "General Medicine"and " Pediatrics". Teaching is conducted in three languages in the following subjects:
"Children's diseases in the work of GP";
"Fundamentals of children's diseases";
"Children's outpatient care";
"Propaedeutics of children's diseases".

Teachers of the department carry out a large amount of medical and advisory work together with practical health care. With the participation of the department's staff, scientific and practical, pathoanatomical conferences, seminars, clinical rounds and consultations are held.
Employees of the department regularly improve their professional level at advanced training courses in pedagogy and medicine.
The head of the Department, M. A. Morenko, has completed internships in Germany, the USA, Israel, Denmark, Russia, and Belarus.
Professor of the Department Rosenson R. I. studied family medicine at King's College London (Great Britain), worked at Hiroshima University (Japan).
Associate professors and assistants of the department K. V. Shnayder, N. I. Galimgozhina, G. K. Abduakhasova, O. N. Dudnik have trained in Russia, Israel, and Belarus.
Achievements
The department has a 41% graduation rate, 3 doctors of medical sciences, 3 candidates of medical sciences, 4 PhD doctors, 8 masters of medical Sciences. Currently, 14 doctoral, 40 candidate and 2 PhD theses have been defended under the supervision of Professor R. I. Rozenson. Under the supervision of Professor M. A. Morenko, 6 PhD and 9 Master's theses were defended. Employees of the department are members of the European Academy of Allergists and Clinical Immunologists, the European Respiratory Society, the Association of Allergists and Clinical Immunologists of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Union of Pediatricians of the CIS countries, as well as specialized associations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
