History of creation
The first head of the urology course was Associate Professor D.A. Agzamov. (1972-1996) From 1997 to 2005, the head of the urology course was Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Ensenbaev E.Zh. The Department of Urology and Andrology of JSC "Astana Medical University" was transformed from the course of urology in 2011. The first head of the department was Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Khairli Gafur Zinurovich. To date, the department is headed by candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Zhanbyrbekuly Ulanbek.
Tasks
- Organization of the educational process at the department, taking into account the wide possibilities of using modern technical means intended both for solving didactic problems and for diagnostic, therapeutic and clinical purposes.
- Control over the development of universal and professional competencies by students;
- Involvement of leading qualified specialists of medical organizations in the educational process: lecturing, conducting excursions, training sessions, presentations of specialties at clinical sites; assisting teachers in adjusting the content of education in accordance with new technologies used in medicine in the health care management system;
- Organization of student and resident work on the basis of various specialized clinical departments;
- Conducting educational activities: skill contests, scientific and practical conferences, etc. ;
Objectives
To form the volume of basic, fundamental medical knowledge that forms the professional competence of a urologist and andrologist who is able to successfully solve their professional tasks;
Achievements
Since the organization of the course and the Department of Urology and Andrology at different times, the staff defended 3 doctoral and 10 master's theses. According to the results of scientific research, more than 140 publications have been published, 3 patents have been issued, more than 15 implementations into practice. The main areas of scientific activity are the problems of urolithiasis, inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary organs, male infertility, erectile dysfunction (Peyronie's disease)
Satisfaction with the quality and effectiveness of teaching according to the survey of students is 95%.
Training of students and residents, undergraduates, PhD doctoral students is carried out at 6 clinical bases: City Hospital No. 1, Central Road Hospital, Central Hospital with a polyclinic of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Main Military Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, City Hospital No. 2, Akmola Regional Hospital No. 2, The staff of the department carry out medical and advisory work at all clinical bases.
The department continues to hold monthly meetings of the urban society of urologists and andrologists. All teachers use active teaching methods and simulation technologies, are active in publishing. In the 2014-2015 academic year, 34 publications were published, two textbooks and one textbook were published.
The degree of degree of full-time teachers is 66.67%. The categorization of the department is 95%.
The department has trained 7 residents in the specialty "Urology and Andology, including children", 3 master's theses, 2 PhD theses have been defended.
