Today, on May 30, 2023, the VIII Eurasian Congress of Dermatology, Cosmetology and Aesthetic Medicine began its work in Astana

The Congress is organized by Astana Medical University with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is being held in the capital for the eighth time, traditionally unites domestic and foreign specialists in the field of dermatovenerology and dermatocosmetology.

The event is attended by leading experts from near and far abroad from 15 countries of the world (USA, Latvia, Germany, Great Britain, Turkey, Croatia, Montenegro, Israel, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan): presidents of specialized communities, chairmen and members of international organizations, chief physicians of regional and city skin-venereological dispensaries, heads of specialized departments of leading universities of the country, doctors from all regions of Kazakhstan. Many of them are the authors of unique methods of treatment and diagnosis.

Opening the Congress, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Astana Medical University Kamalzhan Nadyroa noted that the relevance of holding an event of this scale is due, on the one hand, to the sufficient prevalence of skin diseases, their chronic course, in some cases leading to disability and a decrease in the quality of life, and at the same time, the emergence of innovative, high-tech methods of treatment, the demand and complexity of the methods used. He also added that for the entire period of the Congresses since 2009, Astana Medical University has managed to establish strong professional and friendly ties with many international specialized experts.

Vice-Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Vyacheslav Dudnik told about the ongoing work on the organization of medical and preventive care for the population with diseases of the dermatovenerological profile in his welcoming speech. He said that the Ministry of Health has set the task to work out the issues of expanding the bed capacity, opening organizational, methodological, coordination departments at multidisciplinary regional and city medical organizations in order to prevent severe disabling forms of skin diseases that require constant dynamic supervision of specialists.

During the event, foreign experts were awarded the title of Honorary Professor of Astana Medical University. By the decision of the Academic Council of the University, this title was awarded to the President of the International Society of Dermatologists, Professor of Clinical Dermatology at Boston University Medical School and Tufts Medical School, Professor Nelly Konnikov and Chairman of the Board of the Latvian Society of Dermatoscopy and Society of Dermatologists against Skin Cancer, Vice-President of the Latvian Association of Aesthetic Laser Surgery Dr. Raymonds Karls.

The leading speakers of the event, who made a great contribution to the development of dermatovenerological science and training of this profile, were awarded with letters of thanks during the Congress.

On the eve of the Congress, three training courses were organized with the participation of invited foreign lecturers. An overview of the basic anatomy of all skin layers related to surgical procedures, methods of anesthesia, surgical dressing and skin wound care was presented. The participants also had the opportunity to practice the technique of performing small invasive surgeries, biopsies and sutures. Doctors and residents from Astana, Almaty, Atyrau, Karaganda, as well as Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan took part in the training.

Important in holding the Congress is the fact that for the fifth time this event has been declared as a regional event of the International Society of Dermatologists.

Every year the number of participants of this scientific platform is expanding, coming both with reports and in order to acquire up-to-date information on the specialty.

Skin diseases are also of high relevance for the Kazakh healthcare system. The Congress participants also noted the special contribution to the development of this direction of the staff of the Department of Dermatovenerology and Dermatocosmetology of Astana Medical University under the leadership of Professor Gulnar Ryskeldievna Batpenova.

During the Congress, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Astana Medical University and the Fergana Medical Institute of Public Health.

Also, within the framework of the event, the III Forum of Dermatoscopy of Kazakhstan will be organized, dedicated to the latest method of non-invasive non-contact diagnosis of malignant and benign skin formations.

According to experts, the event is especially useful for representatives of practical healthcare and scientific circles.

The Congress will last two days and will end on May 31.
