The international conference “Current Issues of Medical Microbiology” was held

June 21, 2024 in Astana, Department of Microbiology and Virology named after Sh.I. Sarbasova, together with the Microbiology Committee of the Federation of Laboratory Medicine with the support of «MedZnania Kazakhstan» held the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Current Issues of Medical Microbiology”, dedicated to the memory of the founders of the Department of Microbiology A.L. Kotova and Sh.I. Sarbasova, and the 60th anniversary of the «Astana Medical University» NJSC.

More than 380 specialists in laboratory microbiological diagnostics took part in the Conference: 65 offline participants from Astana, 25 representatives of universities, 11 representatives of private medical laboratories and companies selling equipment and consumables for medical laboratories, as well as more than 320 online listeners. Reports were presented according to the conference program.

Vice-Rector of the NJSC “Astana Medical University” Koikov V.V., Chairman of the Conference Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Dusmagambetov M.U. and invited guests from the USA, Russian Federation delivered welcoming remarks to the participants of the congress.

The memories of our teachers, Albina Leonovna Kotova and Sharbat Iglikovna Sarbasova, were touching when watching the videos. Greetings to the conference participants, daughter of A.L. Kotova – Deryabina Lidia Vladimirovna, as well as the son of Sh.I. Sarbasova – Sarbassov Mendygali Imangalievich, were greeted with great warmth and cordiality.

As well as representatives of the scientific and educational community – the teaching staff of the NJSC "Astana Medical University", KazNMU named after. S.D. Asfendiyarov, NJSC "Medical University Karaganda".

At the sectional sessions, issues of training personnel for microbiological laboratories of the Republic of Kazakhstan were considered, special attention was paid to modern approaches to teaching microbiology, as well as issues of antibiotic resistance, modern capabilities for pre-symptomatic immunodiagnosis of tuberculosis infection, monitoring of priority bacterial pathogens in Kazakhstan and other pressing issues of clinical microbiology.

Based on the results of the International Conference, a resolution was adopted. All participants and listeners received certificates.

The guests were given excursions around the city, visits to the «ALZHIR» museum and memorial complex and the Astana Opera Theatre.

All participants (offline and online) expressed gratitude to the organizers for the well-prepared and conducted Conference.
