The V International Olympiad of students of medical universities "Samarkand-2020" was held on December 13-14, 2024 at Samarkand State Medical University. The purpose of the Olympiad is to popularize knowledge in the field of medicine and fundamental sciences, as well as to increase students' interest in educational activities and science, to create opportunities for the manifestation of their scientific and creative potential. The Olympiad covered 40 medical fundamental and clinical disciplines.
Students of medical universities were invited to participate in the Olympiad. The IMPULSE team took part in the Olympiad from our university.

7. Abdramanov Yryskeldi Dauletkeldiuly, group 349, medicine – Biochemistry.
8. Kadralinova Zarina Deuletovna, group 504, pharmacy - Pharmacy.
9. Zhenisbek Akzhan Yerzhankyzy, group 518, medicine - Neurology.
10. Aidarbek Aidana Aidarbekkyzy, group 518, medicine - Skin and venereal diseases.

On December 13, the opening of the V International Olympiad "Samarkand-2020" took place, in which the ministers of health and education of Uzbekistan, as well as rectors and professors of universities from around the world took part. As part of the opening, a national and modern concert performance was held for guests and participants of the Olympiad.
The Olympiad consisted of 3 competitions. As part of the first competition, a video presentation of the team was prepared, in which the participants presented our university. In the second competition "Scientific Projects of Young Scientists", one student participated with a report, presenting the results of her research work.
The third competition was held both online and offline. In the competitions in subject areas - testing. Stage II - an oral examination consisting of three parts: 1) Questions on the discipline. 2) Solving situational problems. 3) Performing practical skills.
The participants' answers were evaluated by an international and local jury consisting of specialists in the relevant fields. The team leader, G.D. Asemova, was a member of the jury for the discipline "Microbiology".
Awarding of the winners took place on December 14 at the closing ceremony of the V International Olympiad of Medical Students “Samarkand-2020”. Our team won second-degree diplomas in microbiology and biochemistry, as well as third-degree diplomas in otolaryngology and dermatovenereology. All participants of the Olympiad were awarded special personalized diplomas and certificates.
