Students of Astana Medical University will soon have the opportunity to study in France through a two-week academic program hosted by French educational institutions. This initiative was agreed upon during a meeting held in Astana between Rector Anar Turmukhambetova and Sylvain Fisson, Head of the Biotechnology Program at Paris-Saclay University.
The meeting focused on bilateral cooperation in areas such as the training of young researchers and the implementation of joint scientific projects. It was also attended by Grеgoire Prevot, CEO of CIPREVO, and Professor Nathalie Mazure from the Mediterranean Center for Molecular Medicine.
During the discussions, the parties identified priority areas for collaborative research, including biotherapy and bioinformatics, and explored the development of new academic opportunities for both students and faculty members.
Rector Anar Turmukhambetova expressed her readiness to foster new projects, scientific research, and internship opportunities. She proposed leveraging existing international mobility programs, such as the Abai-Vern Scholarship Program and Erasmus+, to establish a solid foundation for future research initiatives.
«Astana offers vast potential for scientific research, and we can effectively utilize the resources and laboratories of our partners. It is crucial that our cooperation leads to the formation of a new generation of young scientists who will become the core of research activity at the university and across the country», - emphasized the Rector.
In turn, Gregoire Prevot highlighted that cooperation with Kazakhstan has been actively developing since 2019:
«Our joint projects with Kazakh universities already include research into new anti-cancer medications. We see great potential for further development and hope that our expertise in biotechnology will be of value to Kazakhstan», - he stated.
As a result of the meeting, both sides outlined key directions for cooperation, including the development of joint academic programs and scientific projects. A memorandum of understanding is expected to be signed soon, laying the groundwork for the next steps in implementing this collaborative initiative.
