In addition, educational seminars were held for clinic doctors (therapists, pediatricians, pulmonologists, etc.) on the issues of diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with bronchial asthma. The educational work among doctors was carried out by experienced pulmonologists, professors, and associate professors: MD, Professor Ainabekova B.A., MD Latypova N.A., PhD Garkalov K.A., PhD Trofimova S.V. As a result, around 150 medical staff members gained additional knowledge and skills.
The event was organized by the Research Institute of Respiratory Medicine and the Department of Internal Diseases with courses in Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, and Pulmonology.
Asthma is one of the most common chronic non-communicable diseases, affecting more than 260 million people and causing over 450,000 deaths worldwide each year. Most of these deaths can be prevented.
Asthma morbidity in Kazakhstan also shows a steady upward trend. In 2017, the morbidity rate was 73.4, while in 2024 it is expected to reach 109 per 100,000 population.
Although asthma cannot be cured, proper management of patients allows doctors to control the disease effectively.
