PILOT PROJECT UTILIZING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE PRESENTED BY ASTANA MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

The VI Central Asian International Scientific and Practical Conference titled "MEDICAL EDUCATION 4.0: GLOBAL TRENDS AND LOCAL SOLUTIONS" was held at Karaganda Medical University, dedicated to the university’s 75th anniversary and the International Year of Glacier Preservation.

The conference served as a unique platform for presenting the outcomes of a pilot project implemented by the Department of Neurology of Astana Medical University.

In their presentation, second-year neurology resident Kanat Seilkhan and Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of Neurology Mayra Abdrakhmanova shared their experience integrating artificial intelligence into the educational process.

The poster presentation was developed under the scientific guidance of the Head of the Department, Candidate of Medical Sciences Laura Yeszhanova, with the participation of experienced departmental specialists.

The speakers noted that the innovative project was carried out with the support of the “Hi Kids” company, and its primary goal was to modernize resident training through the implementation of digital technologies focused on developing practical clinical skills.

Hi Doctor is an intelligent educational platform that simulates clinical interviews and physical examinations with virtual patients. During the pilot phase, 14 second-year residents participated and underwent a formative assessment in the format of an interactive session.

Among the strengths of the participants were noted: systematic history taking, accurate interpretation of laboratory and MRI data, and coherent clinical reasoning.

At the same time, areas for improvement were identified: difficulties with differential diagnosis, incomplete diagnosis formulation, and insufficiently detailed treatment plans.

The results presented generated significant interest among conference participants-particularly in the context of implementing AI in medical education. The platform’s interactivity and the value of personalized feedback were especially emphasized.

The presentation demonstrated practical outcomes of the Hi Doctor platform's use, highlighting both its advantages and areas for further development.

Moreover, participation in the conference provided a platform for experience sharing and discussing prospects for implementing similar solutions in other educational institutions.

Thus, the work presented reflected a commitment to modernizing medical education and underscored the importance of a systematic approach in training future specialists in neurology.
