History of creation

The Department of Academic Affairs was established in June 2025 by the decision of the Board of Directors of the NJSC “Astana medical university” through the merger of the Center for Planning and Organization of the Educational Process, the Registrar’s Office, the Center for Student Monitoring and Records, and the Educational Quality Audit Group. The Department is a structural unit of the university and reports to the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and the Chair of the Board – Rector.

The Department’s activities are based on:

-          The Constitution and laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan (“On Education”, “On Science and Technological Policy”, etc.);

-          Regulatory acts of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

-          The University Charter, Development Strategy, Quality Policy, and internal regulatory documents.

Main objectives of the Department:

-          Implementation of the university’s strategy and operational plans in the academic field;

-          Planning and organization of the educational process;

-          Recording and support of students’ academic performance;

-          Maintenance of statistical and personal records of the student body;

-          Organization and management of academic documentation;

-          Monitoring of classroom resources and teaching workload;

-          Preparation of reports for internal and external auditors;

-          Development of internal regulatory documents;

-          Participation in the formulation of academic policy and educational programs.

Functions and activities:

The Department performs the following functions:

• Maintenance, storage, and audit of students’ personal files;

• Management of statistical and personal data on student enrollment;

• Preparation of orders related to student movement;

• Calculation and monitoring of teaching workload for departments;

• Preparation of the academic calendar and class schedules;

• Maintenance of academic performance records, credits, GPA, and transcripts;

• Organization of interim and final assessments, including computer-based testing and appeals;

• Preparation, verification, and issuance of diplomas, supplements, and duplicates;

• Preparation of reports and coordination with state authorities (MSHE RK, MH RK, NCT, etc.);

• Participation in the automation of the educational process (AIS “Platonus”, “UMOSC”).
