Within the framework of cooperation on future employment issues, a trip to the network of dental clinics "Zhemchuzhina Stomed" in Kostanay was organized for four final year students of the Astana Medical University specializing in "Dentistry".
Interaction in the format "university-employer" is mutually beneficial for both parties. For students, such trips are a great opportunity to get acquainted with the activities of dental clinics as a future place of work, to broaden their horizons in the profession, to learn about the requirements for young medical professionals in employment. Medical institutions, in turn, get an opportunity to personally get acquainted with tomorrow's graduates and assess the degree of their readiness to take vacant positions at dental chairs.
The trip was organized as part of the strategy to strengthen the practical orientation of training and guarantee employment of future medical graduates of the university. The initiator and organizer of the meeting is the Career and Employment Centre, established at the medical school in January 2021. Gulmira Myrzakhmetovna Segizbaeva, an employee of the Centre, accompanied the students on the trip.
Gulmira Muratovna Seidagalieva, Medical Director of the "Zhemchuzhina Stomed" network, welcomed the guests, introduced them to the history of the clinic and told them about its branches. Managing Director Margarita Ivanovna Klimenko informed about the practice of mentoring for the whole adaptation period, when young specialists are supervised by experienced mentors who have many years of experience and excellent professional reputation. Dmitry Kalyanov, Clinic Manager, conducted a tour for future certified dentists, during which he introduced the students to the latest equipment and modern technologies in dentistry, such as treatment under a microscope and 3D computer diagnostics.
The students were given a detailed overview of the work of dental clinics "StomElit", "Stomatosha" and Polyclinic No. 5, and received answers to all their questions.
Interaction with potential employers is carried out by the medical university on a regular basis in order to strengthen the practical orientation of training, guaranteeing employment of young doctors immediately after graduation to apply and consolidate their knowledge in practice as soon as possible. This approach is indispensable for personalised placement of graduates where there is a need for medical personnel and for maintaining the confidence of future doctors in their demand from employers immediately after graduation - provided, of course, that they perform well.
