At the Institute, they discussed the calendar plans and the scope of research carried out within the framework of the joint scientific program "Risk of lung cancer associated with exposure to radon: reassessment for the population in areas with high radon content in Kazakhstan", customer - the Foundation for Assistance to Joint International Research - KAKENHI. They also discussed issues of further epidemiological and radioecological research of settlements in the uranium-mining Northern regions of the country and the prospects and tasks of the future scientific project within the framework of the international program "Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development" (SATREPS), organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). One of the main objectives of the program is the exchange of experience and technologies, which will increase the effectiveness of radiation safety and improve the methods of ensuring radiation protection of the population living near radiation-hazardous enterprises.

According to the calendar plan of the implemented scientific project, a trip was organized for scientists from Hirosaki University and the Institute to Stepnogorsk and the settlements of Aksu, Zavodskoy and Kvartsitka in the Akmola region, where studies of the radiation situation were carried out.

It is expected that cooperation between the University of Hirosaki and the Research Institute of Radiobiology and Radiation Protection of NcJSC "AMU" will make a significant contribution to the development of science and practice, as well as strengthen scientific ties between the two countries.

This cooperation emphasizes the importance of international partnership in solving global scientific problems and opens up new prospects for joint progress in ensuring radiation safety of the population.
